The 6th Bomb Group was formed in 1984 by officers of the Army Air Corp 6th Bomb Group to annually reunite its veterans who served during the Pacific War – War Over Japan of 1944-45.

81 years ago this week, the Fat Man atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki to end WWII was nearly lost in transit from Los Alamos to Tinian Island in the Pacific. The Manhattan Project was so shrouded in secrecy the B-29 crew responsible for the transit had little idea what they were transporting and nearly lost their cargo to a near missed crash.
