6th Bomb Group Scholarship Fund

This Scholarship concept represents a permanent memorial to the sacrifice, dedication, commitment and memories of the members of the 6th Bomb Group who served on Tinian Island under the very difficult conditions of the B29 bombing of Japan during WWII (1944-1945).

In 2007, then Treasurer Warren Higgins successfully proposed that the Board of Directors create a scholarship fund for descendants of the 6th Bomb Group. Warren worked with the Truman Heartland Community Foundation to set up and manage the fund. He made the initial contribution, along with Bob Reagan, Virgil Morgan and Bill Webster. The membership added to the fund over the years since. Every year this Education Fund sponsors scholarships for students attending higher education. This scholarship is only available for relatives of members of the 6th Bomb Group.
