These color interior pictures are of the fully restored B-29 displayed at the Boeing Museum of Flight near Tacoma, WA, They are as the B-29 appeared to aircrews during the war. Boeing opened the aircraft for the 6th Bomb Group during its 2019 Reunion. The high resolution B/W interior photos were taken by 6th Bomb Group, 22nd Photo Lab photographer Bill Webster during the war in 1945.
The B-29 was the most advanced bomber of WWII. It flew significantly higher, farther and with a greater bomb payload than any other aircraft, allowing the U.S. to relentlessly attack Japan from bases far beyond Japan’s defenses. Among its new features were pressurized aircrew compartments and “computerized” remote control guns.
