The Airplane
On May 25, Lt R. F. Moulton was forced to ditch this plane near Iwo Jima following Mission #44. The field was closed and he was unable to return to Tinian. [The picture indicates that the right outboard prop was not turning.] He made a controlled ditching near a naval vessel and all crew members were picked up within a short time.
